From Brahms to the Beatles – English-Speaking Music Ensembles (ESME) covers all genres: classical, pop, jazz, gospel, folk, and in multiple languages! Our rehearsals are conducted in English, but we are always open to repertoire suggestions from our multi-kulti legion of friendly members. We perform two concerts per year with all three ensembles (Orchestra, Singers and the Resident Alien Big Band), plus a Spring Showcase featuring our Singers and various other ensembles made up from members across the organization. If you’d like to join us or come to a rehearsal to see how we work, please tell us something about yourself via the Introduction Form (via our user management platform VereinOnline). Someone in charge of your desired ensemble will get back to you. By the way, each ESME ensemble rehearses on a different day of the week, so feel free to join more than just one!

We are presently actively looking for the following instruments/voices:

Big Band: (2nd) bass trombone and (2nd) 3rd trombone, guitarist (comfortable with extended jazz chords/solos), and a solo jazz trumpet player comfortable in improv!

Orchestra: We can use all instruments. Our repertoire depends on the instruments we have…

Singers: we generally have openings in September and January, at the start of our two annual seasons. Join our waiting list anytime no matter what voice you have, and if we have openings in your voice, we’ll write you once we have the dates! (We always have openings for tenors, and our form includes a self-test if you don’t know your range!)

Where the Big Band tends to play all year round, the singers and the orchestra take breaks over Summer and Winter (August/January), so please be patient should we not get back to you straight away in these periods!
