The ESME Singers began in December 2008, when a group of vocalists came together to perform at the Toytown Christmas party in Munich. Their performance was met with such enthusiasm that the singers decided to keep going—and thus, the TT Singers were born.
In 2011, along with the Orchestra and Big Band, the group officially became part of ESME e.V. (English-Speaking Music Ensembles), a registered association dedicated to bringing musicians and music lovers together across Munich’s international community.
Today, the ESME Singers perform in two major concerts each year alongside the Orchestra and the Resident Alien Big Band, as well as in the much-loved Spring Showcase, which features smaller vocal and instrumental ensembles. Their repertoire spans centuries, genres, and languages, including a cappella and accompanied works by composers such as Thomas Tallis, Jean Sibelius, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Karl Jenkins, Morten Lauridsen, Roderick Williams, Eric Whitacre, Ola Gjeilo, Moses Hogan, and popular icons like The Beatles and Queen.
A highlight for the ensemble came in December 2018, when the Singers were invited to perform Christmas carols and festive songs from the balcony of Munich’s Neues Rathaus at Marienplatz. Their joyful harmonies delighted crowds of Glühwein drinkers and holiday shoppers, adding a magical touch to one of the city’s most beloved Christmas markets. The Singers have since made this performance a cherished annual tradition, spreading festive cheer high above Marienplatz.
With their blend of international voices, musical excellence, and community spirit, the ESME Singers bring warmth, creativity, and connection to every stage they perform on
