Various singers were invited to sing at the Toytown Christmas party in December 2008. Their performance was so well-received that the singers decided to continue, and thus, the TT Singers were born. In 2011, all three ensembles (Orchestra, Singers and Big Band) officially became a Verein and changed the name to the English-Speaking Music Ensembles (ESME e.V.).

Since then, the singers have participated in the two combined concerts each year with the ESME Orchestra and The Resident Alien Big Band. They perform both a cappella and accompanied works, drawing from a variety of genres, styles, languages, and centuries. Performances have included works by Thomas Tallis, Jean Sibelius, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Karl Jenkins, Morten Lauridsen, Roderick Williams, Eric Whitacre, Ola Gjeilo, Moses Hogan, The Beatles, and Queen. They are also heavily featured in our popular annual Spring Showcase, which includes smaller ensembles selected from all three of our talented ensembles.

In December 2018 the Singers were given the opportunity to sing Christmas Carols and festive songs from the balcony of the new City Hall (Rathaus), Marienplatz, much to the pleasure of the many Glühwein-drinkers and Christmas shoppers who were enjoying the pre-Christmas atmosphere at one of Munich’s most popular Christmas markets. Repeat performances of this joyful gig will certainly make a return appearance, so stay tuned and keep an eye on our website for all updates!
